The MOOC platform from Korea (and it's FREE!!)

The pandemic has brought in numerous opportunities for learners around the world. The courses that i couldn't even think of pursuing for factors like distance, transportation issues even in my city are now only a single tap away.

MOOCs (massive open online course) platforms like edX, coursera have been the giants for years now, all belongs to western countries. A curious soul like me, when was looking for some authentic korean courses there, there's just a handful of them available there msotly being only language learning focused.

Last year while I was looking up for some courses about Korea's history, cultural, economic focus etcetra, i came across k-MOOC website.

Anyways so, k-MOOC is an iniciative by the Ministry of Education of South Korea. It allows anyone to take courses at universities and other institutions of higher education FREE OF CHARGE.

Yes, no extra fees for certificates!!

The platform was launched in October 2015 and had more than 1.17 million cumulative application of courses in 4 years.

The number of courses now stands at 1228.

More than 15 Korean Universities are developing these courses and the latest addition to this list is KYUNG HEE UNIVERSITY.

Do some maths now.

Yep, that's how many courses will be added each yeah and expect more because more and more universities are getting in to the list.

But yeah, you'll at least have to be at a good understanding level as most of the courses are in Korean.

Starting from Fourth Industrial Revolution, basic science, artificial intelligence, and Korean studies, to acting, music, post production and theatre management, the variety is definitely not a joke. So may be gear up a little bit your Korean language lessons so that you can enjoy and learn a lot of great things here.
