It’s strange how the love for learning can be such a virtue that you want to know everything about every corner of the world. That’s practically impossible, but that single desire can lead you to greater heights. Of course, every curious soul has got a beginning point and for me, it was South Korea.

In my almost a decade long relationship with K-culture, out of my almost millions of experiences, I feel like I should be grateful of them all and mention a few.

Made friends that I connect with:

Being a complete introvert, it’s never been easy to make friends. But as soon as I entered into the Korean drama world in 2013, I could easily talk to people on various social platforms, connect at some level, and share each other’s hardships and happiness. It was very exciting during that time, I used to keep track of countries I make friends from and it is 76 right now.

Broadened Social Awareness:

I never had much prejudice but I realized there are so many, that people have just because they feel it’s important to be educated about the specific thing. To mention few, the stereotypes about the looks of East Asians, xenophobia, racism, the idea of different gods and using god as an excuse to harm humanity would sum it up.

Explore World Music:

Internet wasn’t really that friendly back in the 2G era. All I knew about international music was a handful names of English singers. Rather than availability, I had no interest in other music as well. Even with the famous music apps around, I still do some research on my own, as an effort to know the music, the emotions behind and the artists.

Getting more opportunities like this that educate n help me think creative:

Be it my depression, be it lack of social skills, the reason behind my constant failures had been many of these reasons and some credit goes to lack of self-confidence too. The fact that Korean organizations and platforms like these giving a chance to take up just simple admirers of k-culture like me and guiding/trusting us on producing contents for them is a great thing that happened to me. No big achievements or anything yet, but it’s these opportunities that I grabbed on, keeps me going.
